On Wednesday 11th March the Blandford School hosted their annual Football Festival for Years 3 & 4 for surrounding schools; these were Archbishop Wake, Milldown, Blandford St. Mary and Downlands. Unlike the previous years the festival was hosted on The Blandford School’s brand new 3G synthetic turf pitch, causing excitement among all the primary school children. The festival consisted of 8 stations that were aimed at improving and testing the children’s ability to pass, dribble, shoot, communicate, skills that they would need to have in order to be a successful footballer. The children were coached from around 1:30pm till 3:00pm. After the children had experienced all 8 drills we decided to play some ‘friendly’ games between the schools with no winner, although ABW were the team that shone, winning against the other 3 schools. Overall the afternoon was a success and TBS look forward to welcoming back the surrounding primary schools again next year.
