Our annual tour to Liddington in Swindon was a great success with our Year 11 team returning with silver medals and our Year 8 team being undefeated all weekend and winning gold.
The girls had an amazing time and participated in a variety of Outdoor and Adventurous activities including the zip wire, vertical challenge and archery.
The Year 10 team faced some tough opposition and improved with every game they played, finishing with a 9-0 win against Bentley Wood Girls school.
Our Year 11’s first game saw them lose to Southam College from Warwickshire. This then meant they needed to win all of their remaining games if they were to qualify for the semi-finals. In their next games they recorded convincing wins against schools from Oxford, London, Lincolnshire and Hertfordshire. In the final match of the section they played Southam College again and managed a draw. The final saw us playing this team for the third time and despite some great defensive work form every girl we were unable to pull back their lead. A silver medal was a well earned result for a team that had been hit by illness and saw Lottie Cleal and Millie Tuck step up to play from Year 9. Both played exceptionally well and did not look out of place in our U16 team.
The Year 8 team had a very shaky start and were losing in their first game against Cardiff High but managed to pull it back and sneak a 9-7 win. After that game they seemed to grow in confidence and played some dynamic attacking netball beating the remaining schools 5-0, 15-1, 7-4 and 10-3. They then beat Southam College in the Semi final with great link up play between our shooters Charlie and Karah. They faced Queens School in the final. It was the last match of the day and the girls seemed to excel despite the pressure. They defended brilliantly and were quick to pounce on any lose ball, making key interceptions to turn over possession. In attack the mid court players put some impressive feeds into the shooters who were on point with their shots and rebounds.
Medals were presented by England and TeamBath player Eboni Usoro Brown.
Huge congratulations to all 3 teams and thanks go to Mrs Smith, Miss Cooper and Mrs Bailey for organising and running the trip.
