History Revision Webinars – Year 11 (Letter)

Dear Parents/carers,

The History Department is giving Year 11 students the opportunity to attend a series of Revision Webinars, run by Hodder Education and senior examiners at Edexcel, our GCSE exam board.

The sessions are designed to increase every student’s chances in their exams, with focused revision of the key content and the exam skills they need to master.

Students will;

  • Recap important content, improving knowledge and confidence ahead of the exams
  • Gain a strong understanding of the exam papers, the different question types and what the examiner will be looking for
  • Explore samples from a range of topics that demonstrate how to address each question
  • Receive guidance from an expert historian, including efficient and effective revision strategies

Each session is specific to one of the units we have studied and will take place after school, starting at 3.30pm, for 1 hour and 30 minutes. The dates are as follows;

Monday 4th March – Paper 3, Weimar and Nazi Germany

Monday 18th March – Paper 2, Superpower relations and the Cold War

Tuesday 2nd April – Paper 1, Crime and Punishment (including Whitechapel)

Tuesday 14th May – Paper 2, Early Elizabethan England

The cost of attending all four sessions will be £12. If your child is eligible for Pupil Premium funding, please inform us in the space below. We will be able to waive this fee for some relevant students.

If your child wishes to sign up for the sessions, but is unable to attend one, a link to a recording of the webinar will be emailed. This recording will be available for up to 6 months. Please provide an email in the form below.

Please note that whether the session goes ahead will depend on how many students sign up.

Yours faithfully,

Jason Langford

Head of History
